New Challenges for Public Organizations:
Going beyond the New Public Management

Building up on the very successful 2011 meeting in Yogyakarta, Indonesia in January 2011, the
2012 meeting of the International Conference on Public Organization (ICONPO) will be held at
Korea University in Seoul, South Korea on May 11, 2012. Co-organized by Korea University
(Korea), Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (Indonesia), Universitas Ngurah Rai Denpasar
(Indonesia), Universiti Utara Malaysia (Malaysia) and Mindanao State University - Iligan Institute of Technology (Philippines), the conference aims at facilitating a
dialogue and building a network between and among schoolars and researchers worldwide to
understand the theory and research of public administration in Asia.

ICONPO welcomes research papers in all fields related to public administration and
organization. Young scholars are strongly encouraged to participate as the conference will
provide an excellent opportunity to present their research proposals or findings as well as to
receive constructive feedback from experts in the field.
All participants (including paper presenters) have to pay for their own transportation and
accommodation. The estimated hotel room rate per night in Seoul would range from US$150 to
US$300. More details will be provided by the Conference Secretariat after the close of
abstracts submission.
Those who wish to present a paper should submit an abstract to the conference administrators by
January 31, 2012. The abstract should not be longer than 300 words and be either an MS Word or
PDF file.
Full papers should be double spaced using Times New Roman 12 and be no longer than thirty
pages, including charts, figures, tables, and references. The Chicago Manual of Style is
preferred for citation. Full papers are due on April 10, 2012.
